Claco is a startup curation tool for educators, a “GitHub for teachers,” a place where teachers can set up their own profiles and share what they’re up to professionally. On Claco, teachers can build, organize and share lesson plans (Claco supports a range of lesson content, like website links, embed codes, videos, etc.), along with searching through those posted by the community.
The idea is to make collaboration a key focus of the platform, enabling teachers to streamline the lesson-planning process and work together to share and enhance their own work, as well as the work of others. Like BetterLesson, Claco wants to simplify what has previously been a time-sucking process that consumed hundreds of hours each year.It does this by allowing teachers to find lessons they’re interested in, snap them into their own lessons (without having to download them), and then organize them in one place on their Claco profiles. Pretty straightforward.
As to how the startup is differentiating from the rest, Simons says that the key is being able to use other teachers’ resources without downloading anything — and creating a collaborative, professional social network that allows users to quickly find other educators to collaborate with. On top of that, lessons aren’t just files, they’re also interactive websites and games, and include video content
Features :Collaborate with educators across the hall or across the globe.
You're no longer alone. Team up with great educators just like you and build lessons in real time, ask questions & share your rockstar teaching skills. Let the collaboration begin!
One place to store all of your resources.
We all know the nightmare of storing class materials in multiple bookmarking & file sharing sites. Claco allows you to store, and easily access, all of your websites, videos, files & more all in one place. You can even align resources with thOne click to share with students, parents, and colleagues.
With your resources already on Claco, it takes just a click to share with anyone and everyone! Say goodbye to sending large email attachments or uploading every time you want to share with others.

Today I write about

Schoox is a place where everyone can bookmark, create, share and socialize information in any format, from websites to online courses and use it efficiently to learn and even certify their knowledge.

Everyday hundreds of millions of Internet users find, collect, manage and absorb information of any kind from different sources like web pages, videos, blogs, wikis, images, online books, documents and even online courses. Different kinds of information processing serve different needs or aspects of our lives. Just reading news, for example, serves our need to be informed about what happens around us. Whereas organizing, socialising and verifying information serves our intrinsic need to transform information to knowledge and understand better the world. Finally knowledge certification serves our need for social acknowledgement, a better job and a better life.

Schoox offers a pleasant way to discover and transform information to knowledge. It offers a social environment where anyone can discover, collect and review knowledge resources of any kind. Users who know what’s what can even create online courses and promote them. By using resources of different kinds (web pages, videos, blogs, wikis, online books, documents, online courses) users can knuckle down to any subject they want and even certify their knowledge. On schooX different kinds of resources are supported with special features according to their format. Online courses, for example, are supported by an internal Learning Management Module capable of maintaining the users learning process. SchooX is great and is for everyone! On schooX everyone can be a Discoverer, Collector, Reviewer, Learner or Instructor.

Today I write about #choosito next generation, content curation platform
Concept
Choosito! is the next generation, content curation platform, supported by advanced natural language technology and fueled by the community. Its purpose is to help teachers, students and parents find quickly educational resources on the web.
Schools offer students safe and laser focused search and learn experience. Teachers build their own grade level and subject area libraries and fully integrate them with research assignments. No more broken links! Students sharpen their research skills and quickly find the resources they need for their assignments.
Innovation
Choosito! Web is the only real time text processing search engine on the web. Advanced natural language technology and linguistic analysis are used to analyse web pages and characterize the thematic content of the site and the linguistic complexity of the text. The Teachers' library is the only community fueled content curation platform with searchable educational resources and no more broken links.
In Choosito!'s Questbook, research assignments are fully integrated with resources and enriched with automatically executed web searches.
Idea and development
Choosito!'s ambition is to assist teachers face the challenges that the internet era poses to educators. These in the experience of Dr. Eleni Miltsakaki would be summarised as follows:
1. The internet is a tool both very powerful and tricky to use, especially so in education.
2. The focus of the educational purpose has changed radically from knowledge focused to research skills focused.
3. Their own studies did not prepare teachers for providing what is now required of them.
4. There are technical and infrastructure issues that often act as barriers for effective use of the internet in education.

Eleni's idea initially was to create a search engine which for the first time would aim not towards the information and its usage so much but mainly towards the user and her characteristics. This is how Choosito! came to being and evolved to becomingthe first search engine to focus on the user and ask: Who is she? Is she a researcher, a kindergartener, or is she a high-school student? Is English her first or second language? Is she researching a science school project or is she searching for details regarding her hobby? All these factors influence what she is searching for, why should they not influence the answers she is getting?

This is technologically possible by the ability to automatically perform linguistic analyses of text. Choosito!'s core technology performs.

1. Evaluation of the text's level of difficulty.
Choosito! analyses the text of each page identified by the keywords, evaluates its level of difficulty and categorises it into a corresponding educational level (elementary school, middle school, or high school and above.).

2. Identification of the text's main subject or thematic area.
Choosito! analyses the text of each page identified by the keywords, and assesses the thematic content of the page, categorizing it into main school subject areas (e.g., science, language, arts, health & sports).

Both the analysis of reading difficulty and thematic content are performed by Choosito! in real time i.e., following the submission of the keywords. This means that Choosito! is capable of accessing and analyzing the web in its entirety, with all the websites and information available at the time of the search.

As search results, Choosito! presents either all web pages that fit the keywords, adding the extra information of the difficulty level and primary subject area, or only the pages matching the selected difficulty level and / or subject area, in addition to the keywords (filtering).

Filtering content by school grade and subject area is the core features of Choosito! across all its functions which include:

1. Choosito! Web
2. Choosito! Library: access to official educational sites
3. Teachers' Library: content curation platform, enriched by teachers
4. Images: access to photographic material
5. Questbook: access to inquiry based research assignments, fully integrated with all Choosito! search functionalities.

Choosito! is to date the only search and learn environment that's curated by the educational community and assisted by the most advanced natural language processing technology.

Scoop.it is topic-centric, but  we can’t forget that it’s first of all a social media
The main difference with the others social media is essential: Scoop.it lets users follow topics, not people. Scoop.it brings you content on topics you’ve decided to follow, shared by other people on these topics. People we meet are users who are willing to discuss about the same subjects. What gather people together are their passions! We don’t always share our passions with our friends: especially if they are unusual. Your interest about the Chinese culture may not be shared with your best friend!
In short, with Scoop.it you share content with people who are likely to find it relevant. Scoop.it enables to share things you would not normally share on other social Medias.
Sometimes you find that it’s too risky to share links with your family, your colleagues or old classmates. They will also not necessarily be very interested in your passions. And above all, the information that you will find relevant, will not be lost in the middle of thousand other posts.
And if you are a little bit curious (we are all), you will read the content on topics curated by other users who share the same interest, and you will comment their links.
We created Scoop.it because we felt social media needed much better curation tools than the ones which exist today.
What do we mean by that ?
With the explosion of Facebook, Twitter and blogs, we feel it’s not always easy to discover or share content on a specific topic with people who share exactly the same interest. Yes, we receive great content from our Facebook friends or from our Twitter contacts. The simple fact someone we know – and respect the opinion of – decided to share it makes it more likely to be good. This is a basic form of curation : highlighting good content.
But as our social networks grew, our timelines became crowded by constant updates, some of which are great, some not so much and others even spam. And at the same time, we all have topics that matter to us that never get covered in these timelines. If you’re passionate about freeride skiing and online video games, you can’t just expect everyone you connect with on social networks to be as ecstatic as you are about the latest patch changes in World of Warcraft or the latest hardware tests in airbag avalanche systems.
This is what we want to change.
We want Scoop.it to be the place where passionate people can select great content on the topic of their choice, assemble it in an easy-to-read online media and share it with others who share the same passion. And we want it to be easy.
Your Scoop.it experience will start by defining the topic you want to cover. Based on that and on keywords you select, we will automatically suggest potentially interesting links from a variety of sources we’ve crawled for you across the web. From Twitter feeds, from Youtube, from blogs related to your topic and many other social media we plan to integrate soon.
We think that will make your life easy : by receiving a constant stream of topic related suggestions, you’ll never be short of inspiration to find the best links and content on your favorite topic. And in just 1 click, you’ll add them to your topic, an online media that you’ll shape with your particular tastes and vision. Of course, there are other ways to add content to your topic like for instance the bookmarklet you can add to your browser tool bar as a “scoop it” button, etc…
The other important feature is that topics you create can be followed. By anyone, no need to be a Scoop.ituser. Via a topic’s permalink, via RSS or even simply via email. They’ll receive a daily update on all the topics they’ve subscribed to.
Eventually we’d like you to think of Scoop.it as a service that inspires you on the topics you feel passionate about so that you can highlight and share the best content you found.
So pick up the topic of your choice, start publishing on it the greatest links you’ve selected, share it with others, have them subscribe to your new media and build a community of followers sharing your passion !
In a word, be the curator of your favorite topic.

Features
Glog Creation Interface
A Glog is created using a very easy to understand, drag and drop interface that is relevant, enjoyable, and scalable for students of all ages and learning styles. A Glog is an interactive visual platform in which users create a “poster or web page” containing multimedia elements including: text, audio, video, images, graphics, drawings, and data.
Create Curriculum Based Projects for Classes, Groups, Teams, or Individuals
The teacher can work with students in a classroom or through remote instruction using this multimedia platform – a community system for sharing is prepared where student‘s work is stored and available at any time. The teacher creates projects with templates and instructional guidelines, assigns them to the students, provides feedback throughout the assignment, and assesses their finished work.
Glog Presentations! Share student or teacher projects in Class, School, District or Beyond
Once projects are complete, the teacher can share students’ work in a variety of educational settings. Glogs can be embedded in a blog, wiki, or web page or shared with others using Glogster EDU’s innovative presentation capabilities. Choose exemplar student projects and demonstrate students’ achievements with parents, administrators, students, and other educators.
Private and Safe Learning Environment for Teachers and Students
The teacher easily creates a private virtual classroom with students by registering for a teacher administered account, generating student accounts with safe logins and passwords, and monitoring all activities within the account throughout the learning process. Student accounts can be created without providing email addresses or other contact information. The Teacher’s Dashboard provides direct access to all students, projects, and other activities.
Single Multi-Subject and Class Dashboards for Teachers and Students with One Login and Password
All educators utilizing Glogster EDU’s inventive platform have direct access to individual students through a single portal – the Teacher Dashboard. Not only can teachers see all student activity within their own Teacher Dashboard, each student can also easily view and manage all of their classes and projects within their Student Dashboard. A single login and password will provide each teacher and student with complete access to multiple classroom activities. In the near future, Administrators will have a unique, secure login access for monitoring entire district or state-level Glogster EDU activities.
